Welcome to a New Year - 2010! We hope that you enjoyed all the holiday activity and that your child had some real
childhood fun! These are the times they will look back to as the best times of their lives. So many new memories are
being created! It will take us a few days to take down all the decorations. It seems the children (like us) just don't want
to see it all over with, however we slowly move on as Spring is surely coming and there is still so much for our little
ones to learn. We thank you so much for being such great parents. The Staff sends along their thanks for the many
cookies and holiday treats that many of you sent in and the little gifts. It really means so much to us all. THANK_YOU!!!
Please go to our Picture page to view our pictures of Santa visiting Discoveryland.

We have decided to go "green" at the school in order to save some trees and some of your tuition money!  Therefore,
the calendars will no longer be printed but will be posted on the school bulletin board.  You can also print them out from
your child's page.  In addition, we will not be printing out the monthly newsletter but we will be posting it here on the
website.  This will allow us to give you more information, rather than trying to leave things out of it in order to cut down
the number of the pages.  We hope you will support us in this endeavor!

Please be advised that as a State regulated school we need all updated shot records and two forms of the flu shot on
record.  Please speak to your Pediatrician on ways you can keep your child healthy and flu free this year.  We will be
sending children home that have had one or two vomiting or diarrhea episodes and they will not be able to return to
school until they are free of sickness for 24 hours.  In the past we have found that this procedure has enabled us to
prevent the spread of any infection to which students may have been exposed.  Our school nurse, Miss Cindy will keep
us informed of flu outbreaks throughout the year and advise us on the steps the school should take in keeping children
and staff members healthy.  As a precautionary method staff members will also be required to take the flu vaccines
available to them by the VNA Health Facility located in Middletown.

Since we recognize that parents are their children's first and most important teachers, we need your cooperation and
involvement to provide them with the best education possible. Children must be in the building no later than 8:45 am.
Kindergarten absenteeism and tardiness records will be sent to the public school they attend at the end of the year.
Circle time is the most important party of every child's day.  Please do not change that for your child or our other
Discoveryland students.  Take time to talk with your children about their school experiences. Your interest and
concern in their school progress will motivate them to do their best. Maintain contact with your children's teachers
and with those of us in . Ask questions and communicate concerns so that we can build a partnership which will
ensure student success.

Infant/Toddler Computer Monitoring:
We have a new internet connection and tracking program for our Infant and Toddler children.  This new program will
allow parents to check on what is going on with their child on an "up-to-the-moment" basis.  This is a completely new
innovation in childcare and one which no other daycare center has!!!!!!

Pictures:
Check out our newly designed pictures pages here.  Included are pictures from throughout the school year!  Do you
see someone you know?  You can download a picture too!

Renovations:
We have completed our renovations to the Infant Room and you are welcome to check them out here.  We have also
completed the work in our new Kindergarten Room which has doubled our classroom space.  Click
here to see
pictures of the renovations.  Thank-you for all your support in order to make our school the best!

For our Parents:
Please take time to review our updated areas of the website.  Especially, be sure to check the updated Calendar
pages.  There you will find new calendars for each classroom that will tell you what is going on each day of the month.
We have added some learning concepts put together by our Director, Miss Vicky.  They will help you understand your
child's development in their age group.  We don't know of another PreSchool that creates anything like this, so be sure
to take advantage of it and tell your friends.

We have parent mailboxes in the lobby.  Please make sure you find your box and check your messages.  The idea is to
make it easier to collect your notices and mail easily!
